Paper Saturdays - To Be Done or Not to be Done?

That really is the question for this lil project.

Hello,

I had an idea of what I wanted to make and share on Paper Saturdays but I had another brainstorm that took over and fizzled out...well I don't know if it really fizzled out our just fizzled.

Recently I carved this stamp. I purposely left the head unfinished so I could make the hairstyle anything I wanted for each project.  Since I haven't really played with it, this would be a perfect time right?

I used this repeating stamp (I shared this last week) on a #8 tag as the background.

Then stamped my lady on the front, cut out some decorative papers for her clothes and drew her hair on.

And here lies the fizzle.    I'm not sure where it's going, it's missing something, more color, a border, a sentiment, all the above.  I'm just not sure.  What I am sure of is that I'm finished for now and this tag will go in my basket of Misfit Tags until I can figure out what to do.

Do you have a basket, box, drawer of fizzled out or unfinished projects that are just waiting for that second round of inspiration?

Well, that's all I got folks, thanks for checking in on me and if you have time, check out what the others have posted for their share on Paper Saturdays.

Until the next blog, enjoy!

Carol

  1. Your stamp carving is really impressive! I have a habit of making a jumble of things and then putting them aside because they don't feel quite right.

    1. Thank you. Those discarded pieces have a way of working their way back into your art life don't they?

  2. Your striking tag has a definite fashion illustration feel, and looks perfect as it is. However, if you wanted to add something, I believe a word or name would be a perfect touch. Blessings!

    1. Arnoldo, your right, I'm leaning more towards a sentiment . I just need that perfect one. Thanks for the visit.

  3. Oh, yes, Carol! I have just such a "basket" where I put things too pretty to throw away, but rejected at the time of creation. Most of them are gelli plate prints, but I am also into mixing Wendy Vecchi's reinkers and alcohol for background, so, I have a lot of those, too. This week on the Stamptique challenge I used a once-rejected background which ended up being perfect for a "steampunk" challenge! Now, in the case of your tag, I am left thinking...all who wander are not lost. She looks like she is searching for just the right path. When she finds it, you will know. Until then, like Arnoldo, I like her as she is! Mwah! Kay

    1. Kay, I loved your steampunk piece. I have a lot of gelli plate prints in the basket too, just waiting for their debut. I've decided to leave her as is and add a sentiment of some kind. You and Arnoldo are very encouraging!

  6. I can see what you mean about her waiting to decide what she really wants to do or be. It's always a good idea to put these 'undecideds' in a box, then one day they turn out to be just what you are looking for. Your stamps are amazing, and it is so good to see original and different stamps.
I've only just found my way through to you via what I think was Google +.
Thank you for your kind thoughts and comments, very much appreciated, and things are improving a little so I hope to find a little more energy each day to get back to proper blogging and challenges. XX
