What's in my Art Journal? - When a tree falls

Happy Sunday!!

I have always liked being in the woods.  I love the quiet, the smell and peaceful feeling that I experience by being there. I joke with my kids about going to Alaska or some remote place to live off the grid.  In actuality, I hope that I end up somewhere surrounded by trees or close to it.  Some peaceful spot in nature like Big Sur, Bonny Doon or the Santa Cruz (CA) mountains.  And I continue to dream.

This page is from my sketch book and is about what I think is happening in the woods when no one is around.  Trees morning trees, how beautiful.

On a different note.  I've decided to try my hand at gardening.  My mom bought me this portable green house.  It was super easy to put together and let me tell you, it was scorching hot in there today.  So far I have a couple tomato plants, peppers, cilantro, strawberries, rosemary, sage (my daughters request), and thyme.  A girlfriend dropped off some flower seeds and a tray to start them off in.

The funny thing is that  all I really want to do is just claim it as additional personal space and move in and do some artwork in there.  Anyone got any suggestions for growing veggies in pots? Or any experience/tips on green house growing?  I have not developed a green thumb yet, I haven't a clue to what I'm doing, I just want to be in the green house it's so darn cute!

As always, thanks for your visit today, I appreciate ya!!! Until the next blog...enjoy!

  1. I have two brown thumbs, Carol, so no advice coming from me, for sure! Good luck, however! Love both your greenhouse and and your desire to live in the woods. The closest I come is camping all summer long--but our trailer has all the comforts of home. Where you will find me, though, is outside every waking moment--from morning coffee to the last spark from the nighttime campfire! Even my art is created at the picnic table! I love your trees mourning trees artwork today! I believe that trees are people, too! Hugs! Kay
