Feature Stamp Tuesday - Fail

...but a good one.

Don't you just hate it when you put a lot of thought and time into a project and then it doesn't work out?  At least I'll know what not to do the next time.

I'm using one of my dancer stamps for this card.  I attached it to the front of the card with  one of those springy wobble things (not the technical term of course).  The idea was that you flick the lower leg and she wobbles back n forth.  Not only did I not position her high enough on the card, I put the springy wobble thing on backwards too (I can't re-position it, darn it.)

 Hanging off the table she wobbles just fine.

Sitting on the table, she's not gonna budge. I guess I still could give it away and just tell the receiver to make sure it hangs off the edge, LOL! Oh well, it's still a cute card.

Feature Stamp Tuesday - Carve December

Hi there!

With one more day to go, I'm all carved out for Carve December (too much to do).  Here are all the carvings for this month.  I had so much fun carving and seeing what everyone else was carving.  There are some talented talented carvers out there.  I have to give HUGE HUGE PROPS to Julie Fei Fan Balzer, the inspiration behind Carve December.  This woman can carve!

For all of my repeating stamps I only used portions of it.  How do you like the one I used as seaweed?

Feature Stamp Tuesday - Finish Me Stamp

Hello everyone!!

Today I'm featuring one of my Finish Me stamps.  This cling stamp is a great stamp to experiment with drawing faces, hair and facial expressions.  As I'm still learning to draw, and can be an impatient artist, sometimes I need a little head start, a push, a nudge. Ok Ok and I'm a wee bit lazy.  Sometimes all I want to have to work on is the face.  I like this stamp just for that purpose.  

I like to use distress  inks  to blend the the outlines with distress markers.  Or I'll use archival ink to stamp the outline so that the lines won't be manipulated as I color the stamped image.

Here the stamp was used on an art journal page using archival ink, and distress markers. Notice how her face seems to be turns slightly more to the right because of how the features where placed)

Here I'm using distress markers. (btw this was the original hand carved stamp)

Again, stamped and colored with distress inks, so that I can blend the outline as I color the inside of the stamp.  (I generally use a water brush with all my distress inks) The overall look is soft with no harsh outline.

 It's nice to have a stamp that can be changed to match the story your trying to tell, plus your challenged by the pose.  What facial expression would you draw?  What hair style would you use?  I haven't decided either just yet on this one.

Feature Stamp Tuesday

It's Carve December and  I thought I would carve along with everyone else.  I'm using all of my rubber scraps instead of cutting rubber from a new block.  Waste not!!!

This little stamp packs a big punch.  Whenever I carve repeating stamps I never have a plan in mind.  I draw a design and carve.  Then play around with it to see how it works.

This stamp makes a cute double pinwheel ornament.  All it needs is some bling.
