What's in my art journal? - The Spice of Life

Ladies, don't we add spice to life?  Yeah, I think so too. hence the title of this art journal page, The Spice of Life.  I'm still over the moon about my new stamps and can't stop playing with them.  So be prepared, you will be seeing these images a few more times.

I started with a journal page that already had a gorgeous background on it, I've been waiting for just the right occasion to use this one. Anyway,   I'm always looking for ways to use a stamp image a little differently, you know, trying to get the most out of one stamp.  I decided that for this journal page I would mask off the top of the jar and make it look as if the jar is open.  Next I stamped the image on a piece of paper and cut out the lady then cut out the jar leaving a large border around the jar.  I placed this on top of my ink pad so that when I stamped my jar on the pad, only the lady would get inked.  (I only went through this trouble because I don't have a really small black ink pad that i can ink the image directly and I can't find my black soot distress marker)

As you can see I stamped the woman in various directions, as if many were falling out of the jar to the earth.  The earth is clip art from offline.  I added white gel pen to all the bathing suits and used a distress marker for the hair.  I also used a couple of more stencils  with a damp towel to lift the distress stains from within the stencil.

This page turned out fantastic, if I do say so myself, if I do say so myself!  There are so many different elements to look at and it has some really great texture on it too.

Take a look.

Thanks for stopping by, if you haven't already, I'd love it if you subscribed to my blog.

Until the next blog...enjoy!

  1. Carol, this is amazing art! I love that the ladies' skin tones pick up color from behind her, and no two are alike. There's a wonderful message in here somewhere! This made me smile and go, "Uh, huh!"
