I bought a couple of coloring books awhile back. I have yet to actually color a page inside any book, instead, I'm removing pages and using them as backgrounds. This page seemed interesting to me, I liked the blossoms.
Lil Kim, who is a rapper in case you don't know, no longer looks like herself. I'm not a fan, however, in this magazine she reminds me of Storm from X-Men...and so the page begins.
After gluing the images down with gel medium I painted clear gesso on top. I wanted to use watercolors, the gesso would prevent the paper from absorbing the paint and allow the paint to move across the paper.
Then I drew lines to create sections on the face and hair. (influenced by the lines in the background)
I used the Koi watercolors field sketch box paint set to complete the page. I would love to see this version of Storm on the screen, wouldn't you?
Thanks for stopping by, your visit is greatly appreciated. Until the next blog...enjoy!
I just love this idea! Thanks for the detailed instructions. And I agree with Linda Lil Kim never looked so good.
ReplyDeleteThank you Pam!
DeleteI love how you have taken art from other sources and created a unique piece of art yourself. This is a fantastic journal page, Carol. Kudos to you, my friend!
